Background
Hung Shui Kiu/Ha Tsuen New Development Area
Hung Shui Kiu/Ha Tsuen New Development Area (HSK/HT NDA) is situated in the west of the Northern Metropolis and just a bay away from the Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone (Qianhai Cooperation Zone) and Nanshan District in Shenzhen.
HSK/HT NDA can work with the Qianhai Cooperation Zone and Nanshan District in such areas as finance, professional services and logistics services, promoting and deepening high-end economic cooperation. It can be transformed into a modern services centre and a hub for talents travelling frequently between the two places, serving the entire Greater Bay Area. HSK/HT NDA will make available at least 2 million square metres of commercial floor area, of which over 1 million square metres in the town centre area, for local, Mainland and international enterprises to provide high-end professional services.
Alignment
The SGMTS will be implemented in phases to meet the transport and traffic demand at different development phases of the Hung Shui Kiu/Ha Tsuen and Yuen Long South New Development Areas. The entire system will be approximately 16 km long and will comprise three lines, including Line 1 connecting Nai Wai and Chung Fu, Line 2 connecting Lau Fau Shan and Tuen Ma Line Tin Shui Wai Station, and Line 3 connecting Yuen Long South New Development Area and Tuen Ma Line Tin Shui Wai Station. The system will traverse the two new development areas, connecting to Tuen Ma Line and Light Rail network, as well as transport interchange hubs, providing convenient feeder services for about 300,000 residents and 160,000 employments in the areas for traveling to different districts of Hong Kong.
Phase 1 – Nai Wai to/from Logistics, Enterprise and Technology Quarter
Phase 1 of the system is about 4.5 kilometres long with seven proposed stations with a view to tying in with the Second Phase Development of HSK/HT NDA. Phase 1 will connect Nai Wai to the vicinity of the Logistics, Enterprise and Technology Quarter in HSK/HT NDA, passing through the town centre and residential area of the NDA, and connecting to Tuen Ma Line HSK Station, Light Rail Nai Wai Stop and the future Hong Kong-Shenzhen Western Rail Link (Hung Shui Kiu-Qianhai).
Remaining Phase
We will continue the planning and phased implementation of the Remaining Phase of the system (including extending the Phase 1 alignment northward to the Light Rail Chung Fu Stop, as well as serving the areas along Tin Ying Road and Hung Tin Road on the eastern side of the HSK/HT NDA and the Yuen Long South (YLS) NDA connecting to the Tuen Ma Line Tin Shui Wai Station) to cater for the transport demand at different development stages of the HSK/HT and YLS NDAs.
